It's been a rough twelve months for Holly Willoughby, who stepped down from This Morning in October after 14 years of presenting the show. Following the announcement, pal Leigh Francis, who is also known as Keith Lemon, spoke out on the mother-of-three's mental state - admitting that she isn't 'in a good place'. And now, an insider has shared to OK! the extent of Holly's feelings, making it clear that friends are worried for the star.
"Holly’s taken a huge knock,” the source said. “She was the golden girl of ITV, but she’s had a horrible drop. She’s at rock bottom at the minute.
She’s really not good, she’s struggling – she feels people are judging her and she’s scared.” This echoes Leigh's comments, who recently shared: "I don’t think she’s in a good place. She’s having a tough time." Holly's rock-solid career was thrown into turmoil earlier this year when long-term co-host Phillip Schofield stepped down from the role, later admitting that he had entered into an 'unwise but not illegal' relationship with a young runner on the show. At the time, Holly was forced to deny she knew anything about the fling.
This left many questioning what Holly's future on the show would look like, and saw the star power through with a number of different co-hosts - including Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson - who are thought to be amongst Holly's close friends. However, things took even more of a dive downhill when it emerged she was the victim of an alleged kidnap and murder plot. Shopping centre security guard Gavin Plumb appeared in a pre-trial and plea hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court earlier this month.
