Finding the perfect honeymoon destination can be a difficult decision to make, but it turns out that some of the most romantic spots are right here in Scotland.
Four Scottish destinations have been named among the top 45 of the most popular honeymoon spots in the UK, according to research by Fabulous Bingo. Findings show that Tobermory in the Isle of Mull and Portree on the Isle Of Skye are joint favourites for honeymooners, taking 20th position overall in the UK.
Other popular destinations for newlyweds include Plockton in the Highlands and Crail in Fife, according to searches on Google for honeymoons.
Tobermory offers beautiful beaches, a picturesque harbour and plenty of outdoor activities, providing extensive activities for those on their first holiday as a married couple. Interestingly, it also serves as picturesque location for the popular BBC children's TV show Balamory.
Meanwhile, Portree is the largest town on the northern Isle of Skye and has breathtaking views of the Cuillin Mountains, the sea and is home to quaint shops and restaurants to explore. Its colourful pier is fringed by cliffsides that host the scenic Scorrybreac walking trail.
Plockton in the Highlands is the second most popular destination to honeymoon in Scotland and 25th in the UK. The coastal village is home to stunning beaches, mountains and lochs all providing the perfect backdrop for romantic walks and breathtaking holiday snaps.
Scotland’s third popular honeymoon destination and 31st in the UK is Crail in Fife. Couples can explore Crail’s cobbled streets, historic buildings, and traditional pubs and restaurants.
There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as golf, fishing, and walking, as well as several romantic pursuits
