Forest Swords, the artist project of Liverpool-based producer/composer Matthew Barnes, is back. "Butterfly Effect" is the first new Forest Swords material since 2017.
The dark and percussive track samples a previously unreleased Neneh Cherry vocal and is released along with more ambient b-side “Tar.” Scroll down to watch the "Butterfly Effect" video and see Barnes' upcoming tour dates. "The track swirled around as a pure instrumental for a while, a beat I made in the cold factory space in Liverpool I was recording in, some kind of attempt to cope with the psychedelic amounts of pain I was in from a leg injury" says Barnes in a statement.
"Neneh’s unreleased archive vocal turned out to be a perfect fit, like they were meant to be together somehow. As a fan that has always idolised her, it's a true honour and life highlight to have her blessing to use the vocal on this track".
Forest Swords has released two albums, with the new music described in press materials as leading to a third. Debut album Engravings was released in 2013 while Compassion followed in 2017.

They kept the coordinating theme going on the red carpet, changing into strikingly similar dresses that featured strapless necklines and ruched bodices.

Stephen Rodrick U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) had a time-honored tradition during the six seasons of the original “Justified.” The rakish law man would chase a baddie across Kentucky back roads and trailer parks. Bullets flew, and moonshine was consumed. Still, Givens always made time for a philosophical and deep conversation with his prey before the final showdown. Raylan would learn something humanizing about his nemesis’ motivation and, inevitably, realize he himself could be a dick on occasion. These talks often featured Boyd Crowder, Givens’ frenemy played by Walton Goggins with a mouthful of Biden-white teeth, a shock of black hair and buckets of country wisdom. They were so humanizing that you often forgot Boyd was a white supremacist turned drug dealer.

Fresh off of an excellent performance as the wily and wounded Xander in HBO's only slightly maligned drama series The Idol, Troye Sivan returns to his pop career today with "Rush." The fourth season of FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” was undeniably funny, but it felt at times like the writers were on the verge of losing their way, either with increasingly ridiculous plotlines that hid some of the strengths of the ensemble—while the “new Colin” arc was clever, it wore out its welcome—or repetitive bits that felt like echoes of things done better in the past. The good news is that the first four episodes of the new season—all that was sent to press for review—are consistently funny in a way that feels like the creative prime of the show again.
