Happy Valley's James Norton is starring in new Netflix IVF drama 'JOY', which tells the true story of Louise Joy Brown, the first person born through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) in Oldham.
The British actor, also known for his roles in War & Peace and Grantchester, is starring alongside Bill Nighy and Thomasin McKenzie, in the movie drama about the birth of the first 'test-tube baby'.
Louise Joy Brown, who was born in July 1978, was the first person to have been born after conception by in vitro fertilisation experiments.

Her birth at Oldham General Hospital, 45 years ago, was hailed as one of "the most remarkable medical breakthroughs of the 20th Century". Netflix have set about telling her story and the decade-long journey to make it possible.
Louise's parents, Lesley and John Brown, had been trying to conceive naturally for nine years however mum Lesley had faced complications of blocked fallopian tubes. In November 1977, Lesley then underwent a procedure, later to become known as in vitro fertilisation.
The film, which was was written by Jack Thorne and directed by Sex Education's Ben Taylor, spans a decade between 1968 to 1978 as breakthrough medical advancements were made towards the conception and birth of babies through IVF.
The story is told through the perspective of Jean Purdy, a young nurse and embryologist, who joined forces with scientist Robert Edwards and surgeon Patrick Steptoe to "unlock the puzzle of infertility" by pioneering in vitro fertilisation.
