First Dates star Merlin Griffiths issues cancer update after colonoscopy check up

First Dates star Merlin Griffiths has shared his delight after his recent tests came back clear, following his bowel cancer battle. The bartender was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in 2021 and he's been documenting his journey on social media, after undergoing operations and rounds of chemotherapy. Merlin took to Instagram on Monday to share an update with his fans and revealed he'd recently been to the hospital for his one year colonoscopy check up.
The Channel 4 star shared two selfies from his hospital bed along with a photograph of his procedure comments, which stated "No cancer seen". Opening up about his experiences, Merlin wrote: “Scroll across... 1 year colonoscopy check up for #bowelcancer.
Prep was soo difficult this time. Soiled the bed several times overnight, resorted to adult nappies, got about 2 hours kip. “Felt like hell.
First one with my newly connected a*** too (sans rectum), so I was a little nervous. But along with my last blood tests (clear), at one year examination, we're clear! Phew. Next one at 3 years (2025).
Last one at 5 years (2027). #bowelcancerawarenessmonth." He finished off his message by adding: “Love to all you fellow bowel cancer peeps, keep on keeping on!” Merlin's followers flocked to wish him well, with First Dates host Fred Sirieix leaving a heart emoji under his post. "Great news - your honest and frankness is a credit to you," one person penned, while a second said: "Brilliant news.That's all you would to see isn't All Clear.
It's always nerve racking waiting for results, I hate it. So so please for you xx". A third added: "Great news Merlin love that your sharing this journey.
