The news site also claimed that the group are currently in the “final stages of preparation” for a “new album”, citing unnamed music industry officials.JoyNews24 also reports that, as a result of the group’s impending comeback, solo activities for all members will be “suspended for the time being” in order for them to focus on the group’s upcoming return to music.None of the GOT7 members have officially confirmed comeback plans, as of writing, however, member BamBam did hint at the possibility on Twitter.

Kang Daniel has been confirmed to be returning with new music next month.The former Wanna One singer’s upcoming May return was first revealed through his appearance on GRAMMY.COM’s Press Play At Home series, which was released earlier today (April 22).During his stint on the Press Play At Home series, Kang performed his most recent title track ‘Antidote’. It was revealed at the end of the video that he is expected to release new music next month, which will be his first in over a year.The news was later confirmed by his label KONNECT Entertainment in a brief statement to South Korean news outlet Joy News 24.

Psy has dropped a teaser for the music video of an upcoming track titled ‘Celeb’, starring former Miss A member Bae Suzy.The South Korean unveiled the eccentric visual at midnight KST today (April 21), where both Bae and Psy are seen performing snippets of the song’s choreography in the middle of a Psy-themed amusement park.“You so popular / Be my formula / May I call you a celeb?” Psy sings in English in the 20-second teaser. ‘Celeb’ is a cut from Psy’s upcoming ninth full-length album ‘Psy 9th’, which will be his first release after a five-year absence from music.

KARD are gearing up to make their long-awaited comeback as a group soon.Earlier today (April 12), South Korean news outlet JTBC reported that the four-member act are preparing to release a new album prior to their July concerts in South America. This has since been confirmed by their agency, DSP Media.“KARD are working on their new album after their break during [J.Seph’s] military service,” stated the agency, as translated by Koreaboo, adding that the group would be making their comeback before heading to South America.

Psy, best known for this 2013 crossover hit ‘Gangnam Style’, will be returning with new music after a five-year absence.Earlier today (April 12), the 44-year-old musician took to Instagram to announce his long-awaited return after half a decade of no new releases. (G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi has opened up about the girl group’s bond and the hardships she faced while promoting on her own in China previously.In a recent interview with Dazed Korea, the five-piece spoke about their latest album ‘I Never Die’ and its hit title track ‘Tomboy’, during which Chinese member Yuqi had shared more about the indispensable bond among the group’s members.“I realised how difficult it is to promote alone while [doing so] in China during [(G)I-DLE’s] break,” she said, as translated by Soompi. Yuqi had been based in China for the better part of 2021 as a soloist, during which she had also participated as a contestant on the Chinese music survival series Explosion Stage: Stage Boom.After returning to South Korea late last year, Yuqi revealed that she felt best when her fellow members of (G)I-DLE were all together as a team. “We need to stay together to survive,” she concluded.

Thania Garcia On Monday, The Seoul Metropolitan Government and South Korean internet company Kakao announced the construction of a new arena in the Seoul area dedicated to K-pop.The Seoul Arena — which is scheduled to be established in Chang-dong, Dobong-gu — will hold a ceremony in June after the approval of future implementation plans and is expected to be finished in October 2025.The arena promises to have over 18,000 seats with a capacity of 28,000 people for standing performances. The project also features a medium-sized performance venue with a capacity of 7,000, a movie theater, and other commercial facilities.Pulse News reports that Kakao will be in charge of operating and maintaining the Seoul Arena for 30 years after it opens, while the venue will be owned by the city government.

The Korea Herald, the new complex, called Seoul Arena, will be constructed in Seoul’s northern Dobong-gu and is expected to be completed in October 2025.The Seoul Arena will reportedly include a specialised music concert venue boasting state-of-the-art sound equipment, with a seating capacity of around 19,000 and a maximum capacity of 28,000 people for events with standing room.The complex will also feature an additional, mid-sized concert venue with a maximum capacity of 7,000 people, alongside other commercial facilities. According to Pulse News, Kakao will be in charge of operating and maintaining the Seoul Arena for 30 years after it opens, while the venue will be owned by the city government.While Kakao officials have described the project as South Korea’s “first and largest” arena dedicated to K-pop, entertainment giant CJ ENM also began construction on a similar project last October.CJ ENM’s CJ LiveCity Arena, slated to open in 2024, is reportedly designed to accommodate 20,000 indoor attendees, with the capacity to extend to another 40,000 outdoors, per Variety.

Squid Game, has revealed that he is working on a “violent” new project.During his appearance at the MIPTV festival in Cannes on Monday (April 4), Hwang shared that he is working on a new movie with the working title Killing Old People Club or K.O. Club.According to Variety, the director and screenwriter said that the upcoming project would be “another controversial film” from him.

Mark Tuan has revealed that he considered stepping away from music following the boyband’s departure from JYP Entertainment.In his recent appearance on Cosmopolitan’s ‘Nobody Asked’ YouTube series, the Taiwanese-American star opened up about rethinking his music career after leaving South Korea. The Sound Of Magic is set to hit Netflix this May.Helmed by Itaewon Class and Love In The Moonlight director Kim Sung-youn, The Sound Of Magic is based on a popular webcomic titled Annarasumanara, written and illustrated by Ha Il-kwon.The upcoming series, which premieres on Netflix on May 6, will feature a star-studded cast that includes Hwang In-youp (True Beauty), Ji Chang-wook (The K2, Backstreet Rookie) and Choi Sung-eun (Beyond Evil). The Sound Of Magic is a fantasy series that follows main character Yoon Ah-yi (Choi), a girl who loses her dreams after facing the harsh realities of life, and Na Il-deung (Hwang), who feels immense pressure to bring his dreams to life. The tale begins to unravel after the pair encounter the enigmatic yet mystical magician Rieul (Ji).The Sound Of Magic was first announced in April 2021.

OH MY GIRL have unveiled their stunning new music video for ‘Real Love’, the lead single off their sophomore studio album of the same name.In the new visual, the members of OH MY GIRL take flight in pink airplanes, travelling to fantasy-like locations, from an idyllic European-themed town, to a futuristic neon-lit city, to a vibrant, lakeside paradise. “Borrowing this music, borrowing this mood / Now, this air  / It’s like meeting on an island after a seven-hour flight,” they sing on the cheerful, laidback chorus.The ‘Real Love’ mini-album includes a total of 10 tracks, one of which is an instrumental version of the title track.

BTS, Adele and Taylor Swift contributing to a £19.5billion increase.According to industry trading body International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in a new report published Tuesday (March 22), revenues for global recorded music grew by 18.5 per cent in 2021, totalling £19.63billion (US$25.9billion), largely driven by increases in paid subscription streaming.The report stipulates there were 523million users of paid subscription accounts at the end of 2021 – up from 443million in 2020 – generating an increase of 21.9 per cent, or £9.32billion (US$12.3billion).Streaming in 2021 accounted for 65 per cent of total revenues, while downloads equated to four per cent, 19 per cent made up by CDs, vinyl and cassettes.According to IFPI, this means the industry is in its seventh consecutive year of growth, IFPI chief executive Frances Moore told the BBC: “We lived through that dire period after 1999 where the industry declined by 40 per cent.Recorded music revenues grew in every region in 2021. Asia grew by 16.1 per cent, with South Korean superstars BTS the biggest-selling act for the second consecutive year.After being named 2020’s second-biggest seller, Taylor Swift achieved the same position in 2021, with Adele, having released her fourth studio album, ’30’, in November, sold 4.7million copies, making it the most popular album overall.Similar results were seen in Europe – the world’s second-largest music region – with a growth of 15.4 per cent up from 3.2 per cent.
