Scots have been basking in scorching weather this week as today saw the west of Scotland boast the highest temperature in the whole of the UK.
The Met Office forecast that parts of the country would hit 25C, hotter than any other day of 2023 so far. And although it's set to remain warm for most of this week, temperatures are set to drop below 20C once again before the week comes to an end.
However, the slight dip in temperatures won't last long as it's set to reach 20C in the west once again this weekend in another warm spell that continues into next week.
Met Office weather maps show that on Friday, June 2, it won't get warmer than 19C anywhere in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK, as it has done for the past couple of days.
Again, the west of Scotland will see the highest temperatures, whereas figures are peaking at 13C further north and 11C in the east. This is because of an area of high pressure feeding clouds into the east of the country, cooling things down whilst the west remains warm.
Despite dropping below 20C on Friday, these conditions are still above average for this time of year, as Scotland normally sees temperatures of between 16 to 17C in June, according to Visit Scotland.
A longer-range forecast by the Met Office from June 3 to 12 reads: "Settled conditions are likely to dominate throughout this period with plenty of dry and bright weather across the country, the best of the sunny spells expected across the west.
"Some low cloud is likely in eastern areas early each day, but this will tend to burn back towards to the North Sea coastline during the day.
"By the end of the period, there is an outside chance of some occasionally thundery showers and slightly stronger winds reaching southern areas."
