Elizabeth Olsen Says Doing Her Own Marvel Stunts Is ‘A Waste of Everyone’s Time’: ‘Just Use the Double. This Is So Ridiculous’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Whenever Elizabeth Olsen returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’ll surely be hoping a permanent stunt double comes along with her. Speaking to Stephen Colbert during a recent visit to “The Late Show,” Olsen said it’s “ridiculous” that she’s done a majority of her own Marvel stunts as Scarlet Witch. “Your stomach leaves you. It’s like, I guess, the joy people get on roller coasters, which I don’t get, but people love that feeling,” Olsen said about doing her own stunts. “I’ve definitely recovered from my giddiness. Sometimes I’m just like, ‘Okay, how many more of these do you want? I can do this all day’ kind of thing. But sometimes I get a little freaked out.”

Selma Blair Hid MS Symptoms on Sets Due to ‘Fear’ of Being an ‘Insurance Risk,’ Got Told She Had ‘Possible Leukemia’ While Filming ‘Hellboy’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Selma Blair revealed to British Vogue as part of its May 2023 cover story interview that she had to hide her multiple sclerosis symptoms on film sets in order to maintain her career and not be deemed an “insurance risk” by producers. Not that Blair knew her symptoms were related to multiple sclerosis at the time anyway. “Sets were excruciating sometimes with the exhaustion and the tics,” Blair said. “I took benzos and Klonopin [a medication used to prevent seizures and anxiety disorders]. I didn’t abuse those things, just alcohol. But I was lost and sad and could hardly ever smile. Hence my roles, I imagine.” “I was worried since the beginning of time that a glaring fault would remove me from the workforce,” Blair continued. “And usually it was my incoordination or getting stuck, too weak or sick, in my trailer — or any time, really. The vomiting or body issues were terrifying, [and the] baldness or rashes.”

Joaquin Phoenix ‘Just Started Screaming’ on ‘Beau Is Afraid’ Set in Order to ‘Fully Humiliate’ Himself: ‘The Most Intense Guttural Pain Scream’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Joaquin Phoenix “just started screaming” on the set of Ari Aster’s “Beau Is Afraid” before filming one of the nightmare comedy’s most intense scenes. During a podcast interview for A24, the Oscar winner and Aster remembered filming a scene in which the eponymous Beau is taking a bath. Aster wanted to shoot the scene in one take, which got Phoenix “spinning in a panic.” The actor said it was important he felt “free” enough while filming so the scene could “reveal itself however it does when it does.” “I’m a little reluctant to say this, because it sounds so fucking stupid and just like actor shit, but I remember… what I did before was I did the scene, but I wasn’t really volatile. I was still nervous. I was still… In some way, I was controlling a little bit. I was controlling what people thought about me. I didn’t want to let people down. And it was like new crew were early on set. And I remember just realizing I had to do something that was fucking stupid, and I just so didn’t want to do it, but I just knew.”

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Margot Robbie’s “Barbie” trailer nearly broke the internet when its official trailer dropped at the start of April, which might’ve come as a shock to the Oscar-nominated actor considering there was a time when she thought no Hollywood studio would touch the satirical comedy. In a recent interview with BAFTA (via IndieWire), Robbie revealed that her first reaction to reading Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach’s “Barbie” screenplay was disbelief over the movie being made. “The first time I read the ‘Barbie’ script, my reaction was, ‘Ah! This is so good. What a shame it will never see the light of day because they are never going to let us make this movie,’” Robbie said. “But they did.”

‘Babe’ Star James Cromwell Helps Save a Real Baby Pig from Slaughter, Names the Abandoned Piglet Babe

Zack Sharf Digital News Director In a heartfelt example of life imitating art, “Babe” star James Cromwell is helping save a real baby big from being slaughtered. Cromwell serves as an honorary director at PETA and is working with the animal rights organization to transfer a piglet to the Indraloka Animal Sanctuary after it fell off a truck that was transporting it to be fattened for slaughter. According to PETA, the abandoned piglet was found “scraped, bruised and covered in mud” when he was rescued shortly before the Easter holiday weekend. Cromwell met the piglet virtually (see photo below) and named him Babe, a nod to his films “Babe” (1995) and “Babe: Pig in the City” (1998). Cromwell starred in the franchise as Arthur Hoggett, a farmer who becomes the father of the eponymous orphaned pig.

Chris Pratt’s Final Speech on ‘Guardians Vol. 3’ Set Called Out Press That Said the First Movie Would Flop: Just to ‘Rub It in a Little Bit’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director The last day of filming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” brought an end to a nearly 10-year franchise for writer-director James Gunn and his cast and crew, including Chris Pratt. The actor headlined the trilogy as Peter Quill/Star Lord, and he decided to mark the last day of filming on “Vol. 3” by going back to the very beginning with a speech that called out all of the original “Guardians” haters. “I’m not a vindictive person…but I happened to have in my notes file several press clippings saved from the first movie when everyone predicted that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was going to be Marvel’s first flop,” Pratt recently told Fandango about the speech he gave on the last day of the “Guardians Vol. 3” set. “That was the consensus critically. Everyone was saying all of these negative things. At the time, we were insecure and nervous about the prospects….they’re saying it’s a title no one has never heard of, we don’t have any A-list stars, [it will be] Marvel’s first failure. I remember all of that.”

Gwyneth Paltrow Trial Juror Explains Why She Won: It’s Not ‘Because She’s a Celebrity’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director A juror in the Gwyneth Paltrow ski accident trial opened up to ABC News about the jury’s unanimous decision in favor of the Oscar-winning actor. Samantha Imrie, a nurse who was Juror #11, said it only took a couple of hours for the jury to reach its verdict, although her mind changed sides repeatedly during the trial. “The whole thing was a little shocking,” she said. Terry Sanderson, a 76-year-old retired optometrist, sued Paltrow for $300,000, alleging that in 2016 the actor skied into him at a Deer Valley ski resort in Utah and left him with a concussion, four broken ribs and a brain injury. Paltrow then countersued for $1 and attorney’s fees. Under Utah law, the downhill skier has the right of way. Paltrow and Sanderson both claimed they were the downhill skier.
