Escape to the Country presenter Jules Hudson has opened up about his decision to take a three month sabbatical from his TV career. He may be a familiar face to viewers at home, but 54 year old Jules has revealed that he is taking a short break from presenting after getting “quite burnt out” at the end of last year. Speaking to Lyme Regis and Bridport News, the popular TV personality explained that he’d signed up to a 12-week course in furniture-making in Lyme Regis as he takes a break from presenting the popular BBC show.
“Late last year, I realised I was quite burnt out and needed a creative and emotional reset. My wife said: “Why don’t you take some time out and go to the Boat Building Academy?,” he explained. As a result, Jules enrolled on a course at the Boat Building Academy - a place close to his heart as he got charmed by it while filming Escape to the Country in 2012, the Mirror reports.
“I always wanted to return. But when you have a family and are working, life just moves on, and you go with it,” he said. Even though Jules may be taking a break from Escape to the Country, he's made it clear that he won't be leaving for good.
Having first joined the show in 2007, he has been a part of it ever since. But when he's not on our screens, or busy completing his course, Jules lives with his wife Tania, their son Jack and two Labradors, Teddy and Lolo. Jules prefers to keep his family life private, though has previously said that he found city living tough so decided to move to a greener place.
