Halloween creeps toward us, networks and streamers are launching their spooky programming to scare you. From new movies like the upcoming video-game adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy’s” to new reality series like the Kristen Stewart-narrated gay ghost-hunting show “Living for the Dead,” there’s something for every ghost and ghoul. “A Really Haunted Loud House” – (Nickelodeon, Sept. 28) Based on the “Loud House” franchise, this new movie follows Lincoln Loud who, with the help of his sisters and best friend Clyde, must save Halloween when the Loud house is attacked by new kid Xander and his followers.

Lana Del Rey, Boygenius, Carly Rae Jepsen and Maggie Rogers headline the weekend.Other acts such as Lizzy McAlpine, Tegan and Sara, Fletcher, Alex G, Peach Pit, Mt. Joy, NME cover star Hemlocke Springs and more will be performing at the fest throughout both days.

LA3C, the Los Angeles music and food festival that launched last year, will return in November for a second edition that includes headliners Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock and Oscar winner Questlove.

When I was in college cinema courses I made a Super 8 film called Movie Girl. It is a combination of the latter two especially that might describe the feel of the latest movie about the love of movies, The Movie Teller (La Contadora de Peliculas) which had its World Premiere tonight at the Toronto Film Festival. And just in sheer numbers of classic film clips incorporated into its near two hour running time, this one sets a record in the little sub-genre. For movie lovers everywhere The Movie Teller is a must see.
