EXCLUSIVE: Isabel Hagen‘s Indie dramedy On A String just wrapped principal photography in New York City.
Musician-turned-comedian Hagen (writer-director) stars alongside Dylan Baker (Dream Scenario, The Good Wife/Good Fight), Frederick Weller (BlacKkKlansman, In Plain Sight), Eric Bogosian (Uncut Gems, AMC’s Interview With the Vampire) & Emmy Winner Jamie Lee (HBO’s Crashing). When her toxic cellist ex-boyfriend (Kroner) encourages her to audition for the Philharmonic, her string quartet begins to disintegrate. As Isabel finds herself increasingly enmeshed with her quirky musician family and father (Baker), she must decide whether to turn her back on the one thing she’s devoted her entire life to.
The musical performances in the film are actual live-captured performances by the cast, as the musician characters are played by professional musicians, such as Huang, violinist Delaney Harter, cellist Jacob Yates, and Hagen’s brother, conductor and pianist Oliver Hagen.
Hagan acts as executive producer alongside Charlotte Ray Rosenberg, Hannah Dweck & Theodore Schaefer via their Dweck Productions (The Adults, We’re all Going to the
