Emotional tributes have been paid to a 'loveable rogue' dad with the 'gift of the gab' after his tragic death.
John Kristian Martin, 47, who was known as Kristian, was reported missing on October 11 last year, two days after he was last seen alive.
An inquest into Kristian's death heard that he was tragically found dead in a derelict property in the Almondbury Bank area of Moldgreen, Huddersfield on October 23.
The much-loved brother, son, dad and uncle had worked as a joiner but was also known to be a "jack of all trades" as he could lay bricks as well as carry out plastering and other handiwork, reports Yorkshire Live.
In a statement, Kristian's nephew, Joshua said he had been as 'fit as a fiddle' and would rise early every day to chop some wood and work. However, he said Kristian had been a user of heroin since he was 17, although he was so 'headstrong' that it was not obvious that he was taking anything.
Kristian, of Huddersfield, had been living at Joshua's house for few weeks and was reported missing on October 11 after he failed to return home. Kristian had previously been 'sofa surfing' but this had put him in contact with people who were using drugs.
Kristian had recently returned to Huddersfield from Ireland where he had gone to "get clean" of heroin.
A post-mortem examination found a high level of morphine in Kristian's system, as well as evidence of cocaine use. The amount of morphine in his system was said to be at a 'toxic' level. The cause of death was hanging.
A police investigation ruled out any suspicious circumstances. Kristian's body had been found in a derelict house by a child who had gone into the property.
In a report, a West Yorkshire Police detective described the house as 'very much secluded' and
