Emmerdale star on ‘French kissing in cupboards and hiding boiled eggs’

The cast of Emmerdale are no strangers to long days of filming from early makeup calls to late night shoots. And some of the longest days for cast members can be when they’re all together, for example during a wedding. Waiting around guests or members of the bridal party can get a little tedious so during the filming of Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King’s (James Chase) nuptials, OK! went behind the scenes and asked the cast how exactly they keep themselves occupied.
Out of all the cast, Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, had the most surprising answer. “The Dingles are quite naughty,” reveals Lisa. “James [Hooton, who plays Sam] and I like to hide boiled eggs behind the pulpit.
We put a fried egg in Mark Charnock’s [Marlon Dingle] tea once. My current winner, that Bradley Johnson [Vinny Dingle] loves, is that during a 25-minute take, I French kissed a cupboard to make him laugh. “We were the original pranksters, James and I,” says Lisa.
“We have the same birthday so maybe it’s something in the air. We have to be quite secretive so we don’t get found out, so we like to hide things that smell. “If iPhones were about when we were younger, we would have got the sack, definitely!” Lisa and James both joined the show in 1995 and as we were behind the scenes, James revealed he has reached a huge milestone.
“It’s my 29th anniversary of being on Emmerdale,” he tells us. “January 10th 1995 I started work – I’m just glad they’ve not found me out yet!” Along with Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), the pair play Belle’s older brothers, so what is Jeff’s most memorable wedding on the show so far? “My most memorable wedding has to be my own,” says Jeff. “It’s the only time I’ve been married in the show, and my real wife [Zoe
