Emmerdale's Lisa Riley tells co-star 'proud of you' as fans quick to share praise

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has shared her pride for her co-star as fans of the show were also quick to share praise after a 'dinner party from hell' played out. Viewers of the ITV soap were treated to a special episode on Tuesday night (May 7) as Tom and Belle King hosted some of their friends and family.
However, what was involved in the scenes was far from a treat as Emmerdale importantly shone a light on the realities of coercive control in a relationship.
The first half of the special episode focused on the perspectives of Rhona and Marlon whose relationship has been tested in recent months over the arrival of Rhoan's ex, Gus, with their biological daughter, Ivy, after he used their frozen embryos to have a baby with he new wife.

Meanwhile, the second part of the episode showed the start of the dinner party as it captured the events from Belle and Tom’s point of view. It offered a glimpse into Tom’s controlling behaviour as while Marlon and Rhona partook in a public slanging match, Tom's abuse of Belle was very much bubbling under the surface.
In harrowing scenes, when the dinner party ended following Marlon and Rhona's argument, Belle and Tom were left alone and he confronted her about her taking contraception as he wanted them to start a family. After shouting at her for lying to him, he pushed her homemade cake onto the floor and cornering her, he pushed her hand under a boiling hot tap in his first physical turn of violence.
