Emmerdale viewers are convinced they've managed to work out the truth of what Gus Malcolm (played by Alan McKenna) has been planning behind the scenes, as Rhona Goskirk's (Zoe Henry) stolen embryo plot continues on. After witnessing the story unfold over the last few weeks, fans have now come up with a startling new theory that Gus's wife Lucy is secretly still alive.
It was a horrifying moment during last year's episodes when Rhona realised that her ex-husband and his new wife had gotten pregnant with one of her embryos. Devastated by the news after witnessing a heavily pregnant Lucy in front of her, things took a tragic turn when Gus's wife sadly died during childbirth.
As a result, a grieving Gus was struggling to cope with baby daughter Ivy and allowed Rhona and her husband Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) to step in and assist in the early days of having a newborn. Naturally, Rhona built up a strong bond with her biological daughter incredibly quickly, and hated the idea of Gus taking Ivy away from her.
That's exactly what he had planned to do, soon announcing that he was putting the house up for sale and moving to France where Lucy's parents live.
While a rollercoaster ensued that saw Rhona go off the rails and kidnap baby Ivy, Gus has now also been charged with fraud for forging Rhona's signature when he took their embryos for him and his wife Lucy instead. Fans have been studying the clues and believe a number of elements point to Lucy secretly waiting in the wings to be a mum to Ivy again.
First of all, the fact that Gus announced he was moving to France out of the blue seemed to indicate that there could be a reason he didn't want to remain in the village. If Lucy faked her own death - unlikely given she died on
