Emmerdale fans were completely taken-aback at the twist involving Jacob Gallagher (played by Joe-Warren Plant) during tonight's dramatic instalment of the ITV soap as it became clear that the youngster had secretly fallen for Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins). Fans have been speculating for weeks over whether Victoria had a secret admirer, as she'd been receiving romantic text messages from a mystery person.
Some were already convinced it was going to be Jacob, David Metcalfe's university-age adopted son, and now they think it could lead to the star's exit from the Dales.
The reality finally dawned during the latest episode, Tuesday 19 September, when Jacob asked his dad to get Victoria to come and visit him in the hospital, after she accidentally caused a severe allergic reaction when she gave him something with nuts in. After a difficult day that saw Gaby Thomas fire her from the Hyde restaurant, Victoria was already feeling vulnerable, but when she realised that Jacob had unexpected feelings, the chef bolted as fast as she could.
But if things heat up between the pair, and David finds out that his son has fallen for his ex-girlfriend, it could spell massive trouble for the pair's close bond. And after Jacob's difficult teens when he was abused by older teacher Maya, the youngster could be set for a rocky road ahead.
Fans took to Twitter sharing their worries for the plot. One person wrote: "So according to Jacob, it’s fine if someone nearly kills you if you fancy them #emmerdale" Another fan predicted: "Jacob’s falling for Victoria now too didn’t see that coming… wonder if this is why David leaves #Emmerdale" A third guessed: "Prediction.
Jacob and Victoria have an affair. David finds out, leaves the village #Emmerdale"
