The 40-year-old Oppenheimer star was offered a chance to play Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2 but was unable to accept due to contractual obligations to star in Gulliver’s Travels.
During a recent interview, Emily opened up about missing out on the role. She also addressed rumors about several other parts within the MCU that she was allegedly offered.

For starers, Emily made it clear that there were no hard feelings about Black Widow while on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. After being asked about the role, she made a face when it was said that she initially booked the part.
“Come on, the best girl got it,” she said in reference to Scarlett, adding that she was “amazing.”
You might not have been aware, but the actress was also rumored to be tied to several other Marvel projects over the years. There were reports that she’d play Captain Marvel (which went to Brie Larson), Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell) and Sue Storm (played by Jessica Alba and Kate Mara in recent remakes). Were any of those rumors true?
“Rumors. Talk. Queries. That kind of thing,” she said, adding that she didn’t meet with directors for any of the above-mentioned rolls.
It would have been interesting if Emily was cast as Sue Storm since her husband John Krasinski played Sue’s husband Reed Richards in 2022′s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
