Paddy McGuinness looks sombre as he's seen for first time after Top Gear axe

Paddy McGuinness was a picture of despondency this week, as the BBC indefinitely paused production on his motoring series Top Gear. The 49 year old dad-of-three has co-presented the show since 2019 alongside ex-cricketer Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff and Chris Harris, following the exit of previous stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May several years earlier, who collectively jumped ship to Amazon Prime Video for The Grand Tour. News of Top Gear's axe arrived on Thursday in light of 45 year old Freddie's life-threatening injury while working behind the wheel for the show. Back in December at Surrey's Dunsfold Aerodrome, he was involved in a horrific accident that saw him airlifted to hospital.

to specifically ban , as Republican Governor Mark Gordon signed a  making it illegal to “prescribe, dispense, distribute, sell or use any drug for the purpose of procuring or performing an abortion.” “My promise to protect the unborn has been fulfilled,” State Senator Tim Salazar, the sponsor of the legislation,  on social media Friday, noting that virtually all abortions in Wyoming are medication abortions. The law, which takes effect in July, carries up to six months imprisonment, up to $9,000 in fines, and includes limited exceptions, including using such medication to treat “natural miscarriage.” In addition to the abortion pill ban on Friday, Gordon—one of several GOP governors to sign a “trigger ban” on abortion after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling last year —allowed another bill restricting abortion to be enacted without his signature, though he cautioned that legislation could get hung up in a court battle. “I understand the Legislature’s effort to improve Wyoming’s pro-life legal framework and preemptively clarify some of these legal questions,” Gordon wrote in a  to Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray.

From ‘Elvis’ to ‘Russian Doll,’ASC Awards Showcase Art and Tools of Cinematography

David Heuring When the American Society of Cinematographers hosts its 37th annual awards bash on March 5 at the Beverly Hilton hotel, the lucky people in the room will rub shoulders with an astonishing assemblage of motion imaging artists. Hanging over the proceedings will be the ghost of the generation that invented visual storytelling. Although they’re gone, they’ve left a legacy to their descendants: continue to extend the craft and push the liveliest art into the future while adapting tools and techniques that evolve from year to year. Directors of photography will heed that advice. For them, reaching an audience emotionally has always been the result of intuitive manipulation of tone aided by the skillful application of optical and photographic tools – all in concert with other film arts such as direction, acting and editing. Trends have evolved year to year, culminating lately in large-format cinematography, with its fresh image architecture and distinctive depth of field.

she won the AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) for the film, the first time a woman had ever won for cinematography in film at the “Australian Oscars.” In her speech, Walker emphasized that she hoped her win served to open the door for many more women in the camera department. During a lively conversation for TheWrap Screening Series of “Elvis,” Walker was joined by producer-costume designer-production designer Catherine Martin and producer Gail Berman to discuss the hard work, craft, grit (and “girl power”) that went into making the dynamic, colorful biopic. In speaking about the gender disparity in her field, Walker pointed out Luhrmann deserves credit for hiring her to lens a feature film in the first place, 15 years ago.
