An elderly man lost thousands of pounds after being taken advantage of in a 'devastating' scam, police said. Officers have released images of two men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Greater Manchester Police said the victim was taken advantage of 'at his own doorstep' in Tameside. They said the man was 'very vulnerable' and fell victim to a 'very upsetting and devastating crime'.
No arrests have been made, and an investigation continues. The force is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

GMP said in a statement: "Greater Manchester Police are continuing to investigate a fraud by false representation case that occurred in the Fairfield area of Droylsden on Tuesday 30 January 2024 at around 5pm. No arrests have been made at this stage but those responsible are believed to have links to Ashton-in-Makerfield in Wigan and have made contact by phone to begin the process of the scam.
"After conducting a number of enquiries, officers have identified two men they would like to speak to in connection with this incident (pictured) who they believe could help with the investigation."
PC Derbyshire of GMP’s Tameside district said: “This is a very upsetting and devastating crime that had led to an elderly victim being taking advantage of at his own doorstep, who was a very vulnerable state and has lost thousands of pounds as a result. This is in addition to the emotional trauma suffered and we continuing to provide the relevant support to them throughout.
