EastEnders' Roxy Mitchell star teases potential full-time return despite BBC soap death

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer The last-ever episode of “9-1-1” on Fox airs Monday, and it’s a bittersweet occasion for Oliver Stark, who has starred as Evan “Buck” Buckley on the Ryan Murphy-produced first-responder drama since its debut six seasons ago. While the show is ending its run on one network, it will be alive and well next season on ABC — the broadcaster that is owned by Disney, the parent company of “9-1-1” studio 20th Television, which not too long ago was owned by Fox — so Stark isn’t saying goodbye to his character, so much as a family he and his co-stars have established behind-the-scenes. Here, Stark discusses with Variety his reaction to the move to ABC for Season 7, and if he thinks spinoff “9-1-1: Lone Star” (which also hails from 20th Television) remaining at Fox for its fifth season means the chance at another crossover episode between the two series is slim.

The Roxy Mitchell star's daughter, 16, took on the role of Kaz in Silverpoint - a story about four children who discover why they have a connection to an alien presence in the woods where a Summer Camp is held. Maiya's character Kaz was a rebellious teenager who often ended up in trouble with the adult characters in charge of the summer camp.

On screen, viewers of EastEnders will know actress Ellie Dadd for her portrayal of Jack Branning and the late Roxy Mitchell’s daughter Amy Mitchell. Ellie is the fifth actress to play the troubled teen after arriving in Albert Square back in 2022, with a spokesperson for EastEnders saying at the time that she had been cast as her character prepares to “take on more challenging adult storylines” in future episodes. In fact, soon after arriving on our screens, Ellie was involved with a mental health storyline, which left viewers at home dubbing the episode one of the “most touching” plot they’d seen from the soap.

EastEnders' viewers think they have figured out who dies this Christmas after one character seemed to drop a massive hint during Thursday night's episode. Earlier this year, we discovered that one male character would be killed off in dramatic scenes on Christmas Day. Still, with six possible characters facing a sticky end, the identity of the departing star has been kept firmly under wraps.
