EastEnders fans left 'broken' and 'sobbing' over heartbreaking Lola and Jay ending

After receiving the devastating news earlier this week that her cancer had worsened and left her with just weeks left to live, EastEnders favourite Lola Pearce was whisked away from the hospital to enjoy a day out at the seaside with husband Jay. Making memories to cherish, the couple enjoyed everything from a walk along the coast through to a trip to the arcade and even a roller disco, before Lola’s thoughts drifted towards the future and she bravely confessed to Jay that she had asked her grandpa Billy for help in ending her life.
Devastated by the news, an emotional Jay soon lashed out at Lola as he condemned her decision to end her life at all, as he felt it was cutting short the time he could spend with her. In an explosive tirade, a distraught Jay condemned the world for making his perfect future little more than a pipe dream, as he had wanted nothing more than to grow old with Lola and build a life with her.
As a tearful Lola tried to explain her reasoning, that she wanted to end things on her own terms while she still felt like herself, Jay continued to rage as he once again highlighted that it was illegal to even go through with it. In one especially poignant moment, Jay also couldn’t hold back his tears as he questioned why she had asked Billy and not him, as he revealed if anyone was going to help her die, it should be him.
Finally resigning to the idea, the couple went off to finish their day out, which was soon tainted by Lola’s spontaneous act of shoplifting!
