Married at First Sight Australia stars Ellie Dix and Ben Walters finally called it quits on their marriage. Monday night's episode saw the pair both write 'leave' on the couch.
The fourth commitment ceremony saw podcast host Ben given a grilling from relationship expert John Aiken. Ellie admitted she had been left feeling 'confused' in recent weeks by her on-screen husbands mixed signals.
However she was quickly supported as the experts called out his behaviour that she was being gaslit. Ben had announced at the dinner party before this he never seen her as more than a friend, however sat on the couch and tried to insinuate he was happy with her.
She had also been showered with gifts and saying he wanted kids one day. However when Ellie had written 'leave' the previous week he went awol from their apartment despite being given the time to turn their relationship around.
When he came back to their shared apartment, he decided to write a list of everything he disliked about his wife with his opportunity to have been able to make things up to her. But things finally came to an abrupt end, as Ben was put in his place at the recent commitment ceremony and they both decided to leave.
John told him as he accused him of putting up a 'facade' he said: "You say a lot of words but I dont think you know the meaning of them. You have not been comitted to this experiment or tried to give yourself over to the process. What you've done is side-step hard questions and present a fake self.
"The way you've treated her we know for a fact has absolutely picked apart her self esteem and I don't like seeing that toxic pattern go on, frankly im done."
Ellie turned to Ben, and told him "you ruined the experience for me, I've been robbed of it," before
