Dwayne Johnson To Return As Luke Hobbs For A New ‘Fast And Furious’ Movie

The tease at the end of “Fast X” hinted at it, but now it’s official: THR reports that Dwayne Johnson will return to the “Fast And Furious” franchise for another installment. So does that mean Luke Hobbs will return for “Fast 11“? Not so fast: this new film isn’t that one, “Fast 12,” or even a spinoff like 2019’s “Hobbs and Shaw.” Instead, the movie will serve as a bridge between “Fast X” and its sequel, with other “Fast And Furious” also involved.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Dwayne Johnson is returning to the “Fast and Furious” universe with a new standalone film, reprising his franchise role as Luke Hobbs. Universal Pictures announced the project on Thursday. Longtime “Fast and Furious” collaborator Chris Morgan wrote the untitled film’s script. Vin Diesel isn't ready to call it quits officially just yet!Diesel spoke with ET's Matt Cohen on Saturday at the block party for Charlize Theron's Africa Outreach project in Los Angeles, and he played coy when asked exactly how much more fuel the franchise has in the tank. While fans already know that the newisn't the end of the road — as Diesel announced at this year's CinemaCon that an 11th film is slated for release in 2025 — many are wondering just how many more installments could be expected. For Diesel, this is a delicate subject — specifically because of how much love there is for the franchise as a whole.«The last time I told my daughter [it] was the last one, all I saw was tears,» Diesel said with a small laugh. «So I gotta be really careful [about] who and what I say.»One thing he's not worried about is praising the franchise's incredible and unexpectedly large ensemble cast, who came together to create a thrilling 10th installment in the series, which has been ongoing for more than 22 years.«We have such a great cast,» Diesel marveled.

On the May 18 episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cena said he “really messed up” by feuding with Johnson between 2011 and 2013 when he returned to WWE after leaving nearly a decade earlier to pursue a full-time acting career. Of course, now both Cena and Johnson are major Hollywood stars, with Cena playing the brother of Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto in the newly-released “Fast X” and Johnson headlining the upcoming action-adventure film “Red One” alongside Chris Evans. “I got selfish, and me living WWE at the point and not having any concept of growth or someone else’s perspective, I took Dwayne’s comments as not genuine,” Cena said. “My view was, if you love something, be there everyday. What a hypocrite I am, because I still love WWE and I can’t go all the time. And I just didn’t see that, I was so selfish.”
