The head from Lucasfilm said that they will soon bring on board a female director to helm a Star Wars film. Kathleen Kennedy did not fail to mention that it was high time that a female director steps in to direct a Star Wars feature film. Kennedy also adds that it was time when the Star Wars franchise is led by a female director which will be a change from the non-male view points.

The five DGA Award nominated feature film directors held forth Saturday morning on aspects of their craft in advance of the evening’s gala ceremony that will tap one of the five with the union’s highest honor. This year’s nominees shared subject matter — their films this year focused on violence and conflict, as befits our troubled times, and they didn’t score high on diversity, with all of the nominees male and the four U.S.
The ceremony for the 72nd annual Directors Guild of America Awards is currently underway at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
So, this year’s Oscar nominations have finally been revealed, and it’s safe to say that this year there have been controversies. Following BAFTA coming under fire for its apparent lack of representation in the main categories, the Academy Awards have also sparked outrage for the lack of any female directing nominees in the Best Director category, despite some strong output throughout the year.
