Fans of ITV's Coronation Street fans have been swapping theories on the mysterious new character who seems to be targeting the young Hope Stape. Hope (Isabella Flanagan) who is the young daughter of Fiz and John Stape, began receiving messages from the secret-texter who appeared to be a fellow gamer named Mad Dog. Viewers had it confirmed that Hope was preparing to chat with her friends online, some other gamers, following returning from her School Leavers assembly.
But a new player appeared and began messaging her with texts containing information on her home and family life. Mad Dog's identity remains a mystery while fellow youngster Sam Blakeman, son of Nick Tilsley and the late Natasha Blakeman, predicted it must be someone who fancies Hope. The pair discussed the messages over their walkie-talkies.
But fans think there's something more sinister going on and that Hope may be in danger. Mad Dog's messages, sent in the evening, asked personal questions such as: "Do you have any brothers or sisters?" And another asked: "Do you get along with your mum and dad?" Questions like: "Do you like your home?" and "What's your mum and dad like?" have caused some viewers to be suspicious as to the mysterious Mad Dog's motivation. Taking to Twitter, fans discussed the possibility that Hope might be being targeted by Phill Whittaker as a way of taking revenge on his former step-daughter.
Phill split with Hope's mother Fiz after she dumped him for Tyrone Dobbs on their wedding day. Young Hope played a key part in ruining their big day and fans think Phil might be getting his own back. One wrote: "Who is this mad dog on hopes pad, Phil ? Trying to get revenge maybe?" Another liked this idea, replying: "Ooh, good thinking…" Coronation
