Actress Georgia May Foote has opened up about her skin condition while sharing new pictures with her social media followers. The former Coronation Street star, who joined the show in 2010, played receptionist Katy Armstrong for five years until 2015, when she left the cobbles. It was later revealed that Katy died in a car crash in 2017, leaving her son Joe to live with his father, Sam Aston’s Chesney Brown. This week, the actress took to social media, where she updated 534k followers on the skin condition she previously opened up about in 2022. Georgia requested that fans talk about her vitiligo, with one stating: “3 years since I found my last white patch..
Every summer I notice more appear.” Georgia replied: “I find new ones all the time. It’s just one of those things. “As you can see, the pigment on my hand has disappeared. The reason for this happening is still unknown although there are a few factors they think cause it.
“The saddest part? There is no cure.” According to the NHS, vitiligo is: “A long-term condition where pale white patches develop on the skin. It's caused by the lack of melanin, which is the pigment in skin. Vitiligo can affect any area of skin, but it commonly happens on the face, neck and hands, and in skin creases.” Georgia continued: “It has affected my hands the worst.
My elbows, my armpits, my feet and there are new spots turning up all the time. When it appears on one side it appears on another. “I try my hardest every day to not let it affect my mind.
But it does get me down at times to know I will have this for life. “I just wanted to raise awareness and speak about it. If I can make anyone else feel more comfortable about it I will.
