Coronation Street star Sam Aston has revealed how growing up with a big family, including five sisters and three brothers, helped him with certain scenes on the ITV soap. Not only that, but some of his siblings have also dabbled in the acting world, including soaps - and he said this helped him when he first joined the show in 2003. In fact, one of his brothers and one of his sisters have both been on Coronation Street at some point, prior to Sam landing the role that shot him to fame.
The actor was around 10 years old when the joined as the son of Cilla and brother to Fiz, with his famous beloved dog Schmeichel. With Sam having played Chesney for 20 years now, he has lasted longer on the Cobbles than his siblings but his sister Emily actually appeared in another soap fairly recently. That said, Emily did appear in Corrie for 51 episodes according to her IMDB age as her character Rebecca Palmer - the teenage stepdaughter of Des Barnes.
Earlier this year she appeared in two episodes of Hollyoaks as the mother of Vicky Grant, while other past roles include stints in Doctors, The Bill, Heartbeat, Holby City and Where The Heart Is. As for their brother Joseph, he played the son of Tommy Duckworth as a child on Corrie in 2000, while the role was recast later on. Other roles include stints in Peak Practice, Heartbeat, Casualty and Doctors.
Another of Sam's brothers, Thomas Aston, hasn't appeared in soaps but did have roles in Casualty, Peak Practice and The Bill in the 90s. Over recent years, viewers have seen Chesney become a dad of five kids, including quadruplets with his bride-to-be Gemma Winter. At one point it was said there were eight babies on set for filming, while the youngsters are a little bit older now.
