In an attempt to earn some extra money and not wanting to let down her friends and neighbours, Gemma agreed to take on the extra burden of taking care of more children - despite having just been prescribed anti-depressants to help stabilise her mood.
Exhausted by the demands of caring for so many children, in a moment of weakness, Gemma fell asleep, during which time little Bertie had managed to find his way into her handbag and swallowed some of her anti-depressants, prompting a terrifying race to the hospital so he could be checked over. Devastated by what had transpired, an apologetic Gemma couldn’t appear more remorseful as she apologised to worried dad Daniel who assured her that Bertie was fine after a thorough check-up.
