Paul Foreman faces some emotional decisions in Coronation Street next week. Viewers are currently watching the character facing the progression of his Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The former builder discovered the heartbreaking news that he had the fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, in scenes aired in April.
Paul, who only discovered anything was wrong after he was accidentally knocked over by Carla Connor in her Underworld van when she had been unknowingly drugged with LSD by Stephen Reid, kept the news from his loved ones, only confiding in his friend and former flatmate Dee-Dee Bailey.
The devastating news, however, came spilling out on his sister Gemma Winter's wedding day after his partner Billy Mayhew only made the discovery himself when he headed to court to find out Paul had been stealing cars to fix his money woes, only to have his case quashed due to his life-limiting diagnosis.

His family and neighbours have since been rallying around and they now have another wedding to play after Paul and Billy got engaged. But the proposal came after Paul, who has been attending a MND support group, asked Billy if, when the time comes, he'd help him end his life - which the archdeacon was extremely against.
Next week, in the flower shop flat, Billy notices Paul struggling with his right leg. Paul does his best to cover it while being secretly dismayed at his deterioration. Billy then returns home with a walking aid for Paul and when his partner admits that the walking aid will take some getting used to, Billy suggests a wheelchair instead, but Paul’s horrified at the very idea.
