Coronation Street fans think they have worked out the real reason for Denny's appearance as Paul Foreman and Gemma Winter-Brown were reunited with their dad for the first time in years.
The new character was first seen earlier this week in the ITV soap when he was listening to Paul's interview with Amy Barlow on the radio. Paul was speaking passionately about life with Motor Neurone Disease and cab driver Denny was seen jotting down Paul's name and 'Weatherfield'.
While Paul, his husband Billy Mayhew and sister Gemma were busy being blown away by the Motor Neurone Disease crowd funder that had been picking up pace following Paul's appearance on the radio - in which he accidentally swore - Denny was seen approaching Bernie outside the café, telling her he heard Paul on the radio and didn’t realise his son was dying.

Bernie covered her shock and made out Paul was already dead and the interview was a recording. But disbelieving her, Denny waits and follows her up to the flat where Gemma and Paul were shocked to see their dad. When Denny remarked that Paul looks great for someone that’s supposedly dead, Bernie froze in horror and was left having to explain herself.
While both Bernie and Gemma made it clear that he wasn't welcome, Denny begged Paul to hear him out, which he agreed to. They were supposed to be heading for a brew but Denny instead headed over to the Rovers.
While there, Denny admitted to being an awful dad but promised Paul that he is a changed person. However, it wasn't long until Denny kept buying the drinks as he got Paul drunk. Landlady
