Coronation Street fans are convinced they could be welcoming back a familiar face to help out Roy Cropper, who's found himself in a bit of a pickle in recent weeks following the mysterious disappearance of Lauren Bolton. As regular viewers will know, Roy's former employee Lauren recently vanished from her home without a trace, with the police believing that the teenager had met a sticky end after no clues were found that could reveal her whereabouts.
Although completely innocent, the prime suspect soon became the café owner, after he deep cleaned Lauren's flat, which had been sublet by his close pal Evelyn Plummer. Keen to avoid her receiving hefty cleaning bill, Roy volunteered to tidy the flat himself, and in the process unwittingly destroyed countless pieces of evidence that could have revealed what actually happened to Lauren.
As a result, DS Swain, the police officer in charge of the case jumped to the conclusion that Roy was trying to cover his tracks and he was subsequently arrested and charged with Lauren's murder. Yet while the mild-mannered business owner awaits trial in prison, fans at home believe former fan favourite Becky McDonald could soon return to the cobbles and save the day.
Katherine Kelly, who played the fiery Becky McDonald, first graced our screens in 2006 as a troubled teen taken under the wing of Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and his wife Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh). As the feisty barmaid at the Rovers Return Inn, she was at the heart of many dramatic storylines, from love triangles to fierce feuds.
But in 2012, she bid farewell to the cobbles, leaving fans heartbroken after an unforgettable six-year run. Now, whispers are circulating about a possible return for Becky amidst the current drama
