A Coronation Street double exit looks to be on the cards as killer Stephen Reid will do anything he can to make sure he doesn’t get arrested for his crimes. As part of super soap week, viewers at home have watched some gripping scenes as the residents of Weatherfield have come to the realisation that they have a killer in their midst.
At first, Carla Connor worked out that Stephen had drugged her with LSD to make it look like she was having a psychotic episode.
Then knowing that the net was closing in, Stephen then stole £250,000 from the factory, which led Sarah Barlow to reveal that he had stolen equity from his mum, Audrey Roberts’ home. As that unravelled, the body of one of Stephen’s victims was brought out of the canal after it was discovered by Tim Metcalfe, who it appears Stephen has now killed.
On Wednesday, 11 October, viewers watched as Stephen planned his getaway and arrived at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and tried to book onto a flight which left that day, but as he handed his passport over, he discovered that his passport had gone and he just had the cover in his hand. At the end of the episode, Stephen was seen back on the cobbles watching his partner, Jenny Connor, from a distance.
Tonight, Friday, 13 October, Stephen’s actions put Jenny and his niece Sarah in danger, as he will stop at nothing to escape, including turning on the people closest to him.
He returns to confront Jenny, who is in the boarded-up Rovers Return, as she heard intruders, but she is not alone as Sarah also spotted something suspicious and made her way into the pub. As the walls start to close in on the killer, Stephen is desperate and hits Sarah over the head with a bottle.
