Cast reunions paying homage to milestone comedy and drama series from the past few decades were one of last night’s Emmy Awards’ main attractions. Taking place on a stage that recreated a signature setting from the show, the reunions brought back together stars from Grey’s Anatomy, The Sopranos, Cheers, Martin and Ally McBeal.
But one planned reunion, of original American Horror Story leads Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton, didn’t happen, with McDermott walking through a replica of the Murder House gates alone to acknowledge the influential show and its creators, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. (You can watch the video above.) Launching in 2011, AHS ushered in the current proliferation of anthology series.
Britton, who is filming the Netflix limited series Zero Day in New York and Connecticut, was in Los Angeles for the ceremony, sources said, but had to fly back early due to a forecasted snowstorm on the East Coast so she can fulfill her work commitments.
For fans who wanted to see McDermott and Britton reunite after the original Murder House season of AHS, they can rewatch Season 8 of the FX series, AHS: Apocalypse, in which the duo reprise their roles.
