Coleen Rooney has revealed that her dad, Tony, was present for the birth of all four of her children, while her eldest son Kai also cut the cord after the birth of his brother, Cass.
The proud mum of four boys, and wife of ex-footballer Wayne Rooney, spoke about her birthing stories with podcast host Giovanna Fletcher. Coleen explained that she was induced on all four of her babies, and her father came into the room for the final moments to experience his grandsons coming into the world.
She said: “He hasn’t gone down the bottom, he’s always stayed at the top, but I just wanted him to be there when his grandchildren come into the world. “Knowing their love for children, it's such a happy moment for everyone, so mum, dad and Wayne [were present], and I’ve been lucky that the hospital allowed it.” The 37 year old also explained that the trio have all had a go at cutting the cord, with her dad getting the honour of cutting Kai’s cord back in 2009.
She explained it was because Wayne was too squeamish, but that he jumped at the chance when their second child, Klay, was born in 2013. Her mum, Colette, then had the chance in 2016 when Kit arrived, but perhaps the most special cord cutting moment came in 2018 when Cass was born.
Coleen revealed that Kai had the chance to cut the cord, after paying a keen interest in his mum's pregnancy for the nine months. Kai, who was eight at the time, was not at the hospital when Coleen gave birth but when they were ready her dad went to get him, so he could come and meet his youngest brother.
Coleen told Giovanna: “He was brought into the room, and we said would you like to cut the cord, and he done it no problem. I’ve got it on video, and watching it back it's just a lovely moment.” Coleen
