The announcement was confirmed at NBCU’s upfront presentation on Monday. The Country Music Hall of Fame inductee joins veteran coach John Legend and returning coaches Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani. Season 23 returns on Monday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a two-hour semi-final. The top 8 artists will face off live for the first time in front of coaches for their chance at a spot in the finale. Viewers will vote for their favorite artist in real time, and the results will be revealed at the end of the show.

Paramount Animation, Hasbro and eOne are teaming on the first-ever animated Transformers movie, now titled Transformers One. Directed by Josh Cooley and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the origins story’s key voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne. Release is scheduled for July 19, 2024.

Well, the Magic Kingdom attempts to explain that eternal question in its newest animated musical, “Wish.” “West Side Story” Oscar winner Ariana DeBose voices the main character Asha, who, along with her helpful goat named Valentino, finds out one day that their wishes can literally come true. The film is set in the fantastical kingdom of Rosas, which is ruled over by a king voiced by Chris Pine. Disney, once the gold standard of family films thanks to Pixar and Disney Animation, has recently struggled to score at the box office with its animated offerings. “Encanto,” which was released earlier in the pandemic, was a modest hit given the circumstances, but other releases, like “Lightyear” and “Strange World,” massively flopped in theaters and lost money for the studio. So, Disney needs “Wish” to connect with kids and their parents when the film debuts in theaters on Nov. 22.

It’s a big 2023 for Disney animated films, as as Pixar‘s latest film, “Elemental,” closes the Cannes Film Festival next month. But there’s another animated feature on the way later this year, too: “Wish,” Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn‘s tale about humanity’s connection to the cosmos.

CinemaCon earlier this week, Disney has released the first trailer for its new original musical-comedy film “Wish” online for all to see. Set in the fictional world of Rosas, the film tells the origin story behind Disney’s iconic “wishing star” and follows a 17-year-old girl named Asha (Ariana DeBose) who makes a wish so hard, it literally conjures the wishing star to life.Together, Asha and Star confront the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Chris Pine), to save Asha’s community “and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.”Chris Buck (“Frozen”) directs the film alongside Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee (“Frozen”) and Allison Moore (“Manhunt”).“Our heroine, Asha, lives in Rosas, known as the kingdom of wishes,” said Buck in a statement.
