Chris Cadden insists Hibs won’t start pointing fingers at each other as they try to cling on to hopes of finishing in the top half of the Premiership.
The Leith men and boss Nick Montgomery were booed off the pitch at Easter Road on Saturday after losing to St Johnstone – and only had themselves to blame. Cadden equalised in the second half after Adama Sidibeh’s opener for Saints but Tony Gallacher’s late volley – his first career goal – secured the points for Craig Levein’s men.
Dundee’s incredible late collapse against Motherwell means Hibs can still finish in the top six. A point behind the Dark Blues, who have a game in hand at home to Rangers on Wednesday, Hibs visit Fir Park on Saturday in their final match before the split. Sidibeh raced clear to make it 1-0 and Gallacher netted from a corner. For the Hibees, both goals were terrible and cheap to concede.
But Cadden, who scored his first of the season, claims Hibs won’t play a blame game if they don’t end up in the top six. He said: “I’ve not seen them back but the goals weren’t great. A set-piece goal as well, any time you lose to a set-piece is gutting.
“We will look at it all. But there is no blame culture here. We look at it together, we win as a team, we lose as a team. We’ll look at what we can do better.
“Regardless of result, we’ll analyse our game on a Monday and go again. That’s all you can really do. It’s frustrating it’s not in our own hands. But that’s the situation we find ourselves in. We just have to channel it into next week.
“We must take the disappointment and frustration of the situation, use that disappointment for next week. We wish it was in our own hands. Unfortunately, it’s not.”
Cadden did not shy away from the anger of fans at full-time but
