John Cusack says film studios are a “criminal enterprise” after new AI proposal

proposed to use artificial intelligence to scan the faces of extras and use their likeness in perpetuity. On Thursday, the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) officially declared its intention to go on strike, with one of the many areas of concern for the union being the use of AI within the industry.During a press conference, SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) had made a so-called “groundbreaking” proposal that, with the use of AI, would allow the likenesses of film and television background performers to be used indefinitely.Sharing his anger at the proposal on Twitter, Cusack said: “Studios wanna have extras work one day, scan them — own their likeness forever — and eliminate them from the business.“Do you think they will stop with extras? That’s what AI is — a giant Copywrite identity theft [and] criminal enterprise.”Studios wanna have extras work one day Scan them – own their likeness forever – and eliminate them from the business – & do you think they will stop with extras – ? California Extends Film Tax Credit as New Jersey Expands Incentive to Lure Netflix Studio

Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill on Monday that extends the state’s $330 million tax incentive for film and TV production. The program will be extended for five years through 2030. For the first time, the credit will be refundable, meaning that companies like Netflix that have little or no state tax liability can receive cash back from the state. That change has been estimated to cost $200 million. The bill is the result of more than a year of bargaining between Hollywood studios, entertainment unions and state lawmakers. In addition to extending the credit, the bill also includes an incentive for productions to hire a diverse workforce, both on screen and behind the camera.

NYC Drag Marchers Chant “We’re Coming For Your Children”

Talk about not reading the room correctly. In perhaps one of the most tone-deaf and spectacularly abysmal attempts at tongue-in-cheek humor, participants in New York City’s annual Drag March chanted “We’re here, we’re queer, we’re coming for your children. We’re here, we’re queer, we’re not going shopping,” as they marched through the city’s streets last Friday. The event, in which marchers trek over a mile from Tompkins Square Park in Alphabet City to the Stonewall Inn in the West Village, features hundreds of drag queens and LGBTQ activists, often holding provocative signs or banners while leading each other in chants.

Sean Spicer’s ‘New Project’ a Faint Murmur 2 Months After Newsmax Exit

Spicer’s latest take, posted Monday afternoon, covers the seven-day-old news of Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott’s appearance on “The View” and makes the debatable point that the U.S. senator “schooled” the ABC talk-show hosts. Some of Spicer’s other takes, if perhaps more punctual, similarly lack in sizzle, if not in credibility, from “Children forced to celebrate Pride Month by leftists” and “NAACP travel advisory for Florida devoid of any facts” to “Durham Report: Trump exonerated, FBI looks awful” and “Democrats set Kamala Harris up as the next president,” all of which you can watch on his YouTube page here.
