“They’ve made me a better man,” the Two and a Half Men alum told In Touch Weekly in May 2009, two months after the birth of his only sons. (Sheen is also father of daughter Cassandra, born in 1984, with ex Paula Speert, as well as daughters Sami, born in 2004, and Lola, born in 2005, with ex-wife Denise Richards.)
Mueller, who was married to the Scary Movie 3 star from 2008 to 2011, agreed at the time. “I do see him being a better man now that the boys are here,” she said about her then-husband, who has been vocal about his substance abuse issues and more. “He’s totally involved.”
Despite their initial joy, Sheen and Mueller went on to have a tumultuous relationship. The World According to Paris alum dealt with her own substance issues and entered treatment several times.
In 2012, Richards — who was married to the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star from 2002 to 2006 — told Access Hollywood that she would always be there for Mueller and Bob and Max.
“They’re our family, and they’re Sam and Lola’s brothers,” the Wild Things actress said. “I can’t imagine growing up without my sister, so anytime [Brooke] needs help, I’m there for the boys. [Sam and Lola] are the best big sisters to [the boys], and they love them.”
Seven years later, Mueller entered rehab for another time and Bob and Max were sent to live with their maternal grandparents.
“Between myself and the boys’ two amazing sets of grandparents, we continue to seamlessly love, shelter and protect Bob and Max from the haphazard choices and unsightly behavior their mom refuses to extinguish once and for all,” Sheen told The

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre are officially back in business together, with the actor joining Lorre’s HBO Max series “How to Be a Bookie.” Variety has confirmed with sources that Sheen will recur in the upcoming HBO Max series (with the streamer set to be renamed Max in the next month). The show stars Sebastian Maniscalco and was ordered to series in October. Reps for Warner Bros. Television and HBO Max declined to comment. Sheen and Lorre previously worked together on the hit CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” Lorre co-created and executive produced the show, with Sheen starring. Sheen earned four Emmy nominations during his time on the show, but infamously left in the eighth season amid a public meltdown that included his viral “tiger blood” interview with ABC News and entering drug rehab. Sheen proceeded to make a number of disparaging remarks about Lorre publicly, with Lorre killing off Sheen’s character on “Two and a Half Men.” It was revealed in the series finale that Sheen’s character was not really dead, but died in the finale when a piano fell on his head.
