The past few years have seen more and more celebrities finding the courage to come out and be proud of their fans and followers. This is such an important milestone for the LGBTQ+ community and the younger members who need the strength to come to terms with their identities. The more celebrities feel safe letting the world know who they are, the more queer youth will be able to do the same.
In order to celebrate Pride Month and the role models these celebrities have become, here are some of their coming-out stories within the past couple of years
Rebel Wilson always has a way with words, and her latest post featuring her girlfriend Ramona Agruma really was touching: “I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince…but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess”.
The truth behind this though is that Rebel Wilson was forced to make her relationship public after journalist Andrew Hornery planned to put her relationship before her. While she received great support from the community, outing someone on social media can be very traumatic and celebrities often fall victim to such situations.
The “Bachelor” star and NFL player shocked many fans when he came out as gay in 2021. This was unexpected by most, but for Colton, it was long overdue. In an interview he did with “Good Morning America”, he had to say the following:
“I’ve run from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. And I’m gay, and I came to terms with that earlier this year, and I’ve been processing it and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know,”
Jojo Siwa is a young pop star who made her debut through “Dance Moms”. She has built a great career as a dancer, singer, and YouTuber, and is loved by millions of fans of all ages. Siwa came out in 2021 through a viral TikTok video she made where she was dancing to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”. In the video she can be seen wearing a T-shirt reading “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.”.
Jojo came out as Queer and later spoke about it on People, saying that she likes the term queer. "Technically I would say that I am pansexual because that's how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human."
The Scottish singer and songwriter have inspired many with her beautiful voice and mesmerizing lyrics. Earlier in 2022, Emeli revealed that she had found love in another woman, a fellow musician by the name of Yoana Karemova, a talented pianist. The two met while Emeli was studying classical music. If you are looking for a love story like this, the Taimi app can help connect you with someone who shares similar interests and hobbies.
Emeli wishes she had spoken about her sexuality sooner, and she has to say the following about her relationship: "I'm not sure what I identify as but I guess so. I just feel like I should fall in love with whoever I fall in love with” She also added that “I just feel that I can fall in love with anybody at any time, and right now I'm in love with Yoana and that's it for life!”.
The “American Idol” star revealed that he is part of the LGBTQ+ community in June of 2021 through an Instagram post that he shared with his followers. There, he had to say the following: “I’ve been open to myself and my close family for some years now that I am not sure about my own sexuality.”
Later, in an interview with today.com, he explained that it was through prayer that he found the courage to come out to the public. He has also mentioned that his family knew of his gay identity since 2014, but he is not sure how he identifies today.
Demi Lovato came out as pansexual in 2021 and shortly after that, they came out as nonbinary, changing their pronouns to they/them. Demi has always been open about their sexuality and relationships, and in an interview with “The Joe Rogan Experience”, they spoke more about their fluid attraction.
There, they verified they are pansexual and commented that "I'm so fluid now — and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is that I was super closed off."
Kehlani has never been shy about her queerness and sexuality, and she had also previously shared about her pronouns being she/they. In 2021, she announced that she identified as a lesbian on Instagram, during a friend’s live stream.
She openly and effortlessly said the following: "You wanna know what's new about me? I finally know I'm a lesbian". Kehlani has also spoken about her views on how the industry views other artists who are members of the LGBTQ+ community and how more difficult it is for many to come out as she has.
It is certain that more celebrities find the courage to come out and be their true selves, and this is very positive news for the future of the LGBTQ+ community. Most people have a very hard time coming to terms with their sexuality and gender identity and coming out to family and friends.
Seeing your favorite celebrities talking openly about things that define you too can be so helpful in finding your identity and not being afraid to be yourself. This is exactly why coming out stories will always have a big impact on the lives of fans and why sharing them with everyone is very important for the members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief The recent reopening of the mainland Chinese box office, including a $1 billion Chinese New Year holiday season, has put a different complexion on the global theatrical industry. Few companies could be closer to that change in fortune than Imax China, a stock market-listed subsidiary of the Imax Corp. The company operates as both a supplier of screens, audio and projection equipment for premium cinemas and as a partner in making local Chinese films fit for exhibition in the giant format. During Chinese New Year, Imax was represented by “Avatar: The Way of Water” and four Chinese movies. Daniel Manwaring, CEO of Imax China, spoke to Variety in his first interview since taking on the top job in January.

Robert Rodriguez didn’t want to screen his new movie for the first time on the same night as the Oscars. It just worked out that way. It all started when, in mid-February, the 54-year-old filmmaker realized he was rapidly approaching the 30th anniversary of the theatrical release of his first feature film, the neo-Western “El Mariachi.” “It fucking snuck up on me,” Rodriguez tells Variety on Sunday afternoon, sitting on a hotel rooftop bar overlooking the ever-changing Austin skyline. Rodriguez famously shot “El Mariachi” on a $7,000 budget, and its success helped to catalyze the independent film revolution of the 1990s and reinforce Rodriguez’s conviction to continue his DIY, homegrown approach to filmmaking. Almost all of Rodriguez’s films have been made at least in part out of his Austin-based Troublemaker Studios, from his R-rated action films like 1998’s “The Faculty,” 2005’s “Sin City” and 2010’s “Machete” to his family movies franchises “Spy Kids” and “Sharkboy and Lavagirl.” Even 2019’s “Alita: Battle Angel,” the James Cameron-produced action epic with visual effects work by Weta Digital, was shot at Troublemaker.

Including preview, it has a cumulative of $20.3 million. Crime drama, “Revival” earned $10.3 million over the weekend and has a running total of $11.4 million including previews. The two newcomers dominated the box office and relegated Hong Kong-produced courtroom drama “A Guilty Conscience” to a distant third place. “Guilty” took $2.3 million (RMB15.8 million) for a cumulative of $23 million since releasing on Feb. 24.

fathering 12 kids with six different women in recent years. But this time, he’s in on the joke. Cannon shocked the internet on Tuesday when he began promoting a fake game show titled “Who’s Having My Baby?” to be released on the E! network this spring. The actor shared a promo video that truly looked like an E! television commercial teasing a new show with Kevin Hart that would be “the mother of all game shows.”“We’re not kidding around,” the narrator said in the fake ad — though they were.
Nick Cannon’s new game show “Who’s Having My Baby?” sounds more like a sketch than an actual TV show… that’s because you’re right. No, there won’t be a TV show called “Who’s Having My Baby?” because, well, what would that show even look like anyway? Instead, the idea for “Who’s Having My Baby?” is actually a gag, orchestrated by comedian Kevin Hart, as a sketch for an upcoming, not-yet-announced project. According to insiders, all will be revealed as soon as tomorrow, as Hart continues to expand his empire with another comedy franchise inside the NBCUniversal universe. That doesn’t mean Hart and Cannon aren’t having some fun first with the confusion over the faux TV series. Cannon went on Twitter Tuesday to claim he would be starring in E! Entertainment’s “Who’s Having My Baby?” and even shared a teaser. (Yes, that’s a sketch, not a show.) As hosted by Hart, the fake show would appear to be a competition between single women eager to birth Cannon’s next child.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Michelle Yeoh was already an actor star overseas by 1997 thanks to popular Hong Kong movies like “Police Story 3: Super Cop” and “Supercop 2,” but it wasn’t until the James Bond tentpole “Tomorrow Never Dies” opened that year that Yeoh had her Hollywood breakthrough. The actor played Wai Lin, a Chinese spy who is highly skilled in marital arts and bucks every “damsel in distress” and “Bond girl” stereotype. “The first movie I did after I came to America was ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ with Pierce Brosnan,” Yeoh recently told People magazine. “James Bond at that point had only been known as macho, and the girls were just the ones with cutesy names.”
James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, said she rejected roles subsequently thrown her way for “almost two years” until 2000 film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.“At that point, people in the industry couldn’t really tell the difference between whether I was Chinese or Japanese or Korean or if I even spoke English,” Yeoh told People. “They would talk very loudly and very slow.”She added: “I didn’t work for almost two years, until Crouching Tiger, simply because I could not agree with the stereotypical roles that were put forward to me.”Yeoh is nominated for Best Actress at this year’s Oscars for Everything Everywhere All At Once, against Cate Blanchett, Ana de Armas, Andrea Riseborough and Michelle Williams.Last month, Yeoh became the first Asian actor to win Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards.“Every one of you know, the journey, the rollercoaster ride, the ups and downs,” Yeoh said in her acceptance speech.

new “baby mama” in mind should he choose to welcome baby No. 13.The 42-year-old host was joined by “The Real Housewives of New York City” alum Luann de Lesseps, 57, on Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer” as she provided the judges with clues to guess the identity of the masked performer Medusa. But before the cabaret singer could give her hints, Cannon told the audience that the duo “have a love thing going” — to which she replied, while caressing his shoulder, “We do, we do,” according to The Sun. Lesseps then joked to Cannon that she “wouldn’t tell — if he didn’t,” as judge Robin Thicke perfectly interjected, “We will all find out nine months later.”The remark both stunned and amused the fellow judges and live audience, the outlet reported.
