Although he may have last appeared on our screens all the way back in September 2022, Coronation Street’s Leo Thompkins was once again the name on everyone’s lips this week, as the character’s body was discovered on a building site by Ed Bailey. As regular viewers will know, Leo was murdered in cold blood by serial killer Stephen Reid, after the two shared an intense altercation over potential love interest Jenny Connor.

Child killer Jon Venables has been granted a parole hearing, the Parole Board has confirmed. Venables, who killed James Bulger alongside Robert Thompson in Feburary 1993, has been granted a hearing later this year.

The Grant family was one of the first fictional clans to step onto Brookside when the soap first aired on Channel 4 in 1982.The much-loved drama quickly became an '80s and '90s classic as it told the stories of the residents of Brookside Close in Liverpool for 21 years across 2,915 episodes. Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne has portrayed the role of Peter Barlow on the hit ITV soap since 2000 and has been at the heart of dramatic storylines. When BBC drama Eldorado hit our screens back in 1992, show bosses had hoped it could replicate the success of EastEnders while bringing a little more sunshine into the lives of avid soap viewers. The iconic show, which was set in the fictional town of Los Barcos on the Costa Eldorado in Spain, focused on the lives of a group of wealthy British expatriates, and introduced viewers at home to a variety of stars including Eldorado hunk Marcus Tandy.

Vinnie Patterson was Home and Away's red Speedo-clad lifeguard – a loveable rogue who, at various time, was also a part-time stripper and high school student. Other storylines saw Vinnie diagnosed with testicular cancer and become a children's entertainter – Vin-Vin the clown – while he also enjoyed one of the soap's most popular romances with Leah. Played by Ryan Kwanten from 1997 to 2002, poor Vinnie eventually ended up in prison for fraud when he was framed by a business partner, before soap bosses finally killed off when his character – now under witness protection – when he was said to have died in a farming accident.

Drop Dead Fred is a much loved movie that captured the hearts of an entire generation. Released on April 19th 1991, it still retains its original charm and character to this day. Starring Rik Mayall as imaginary friend, Drop Dead Fred, alongside the likes of Marsha Mason, Carrie Fisher, Ron Eldard, Tim Matheson, and Bridget Fonda, it follows Elizabeth as she is haunted by Fred in adulthood.
