Scott’s Mercedes was torched on November 5, a month before he was due to appear as a witness. In the end, his evidence was not required as the accused changed his plea to guilty.
Police said yesterday: “Inquiries remain ongoing.”
Sheriff Colin Dunipace described the attack on Scott as “sickening, vicious and cowardly” and said only the accused’s age had saved him from a “significant” custodial sentence.
The youth was given 18 months’ supervision, electronically tagged for six months and ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid community work.
He must also pay Scott £1000 in compensation.
