Carole and Michael Middleton, parents of the Princess of Wales, are reportedly unable to pay the £260,000 fees owed to an insolvency firm. This comes after their business, Party Pieces, went into administration last year, leaving creditors £2.6million out of pocket.
Interpath Advisory (IA), a city firm brought in to handle the insolvency, is reported to be struggling to cover all the costs of recouping the money. The process has taken longer than expected due to statutory requirements and questions from creditors, according to the reports.
Although the firm has already received fees of £51,437 and expects to get more over time, it's believed they won't be able to cover the total amount of expenses incurred.
The Mirror has reached out to IA about these claims, which were first reported in The Times. The paper also noted that Party Pieces was set up by Carole and Michael Middleton in 1987, seven years after they got married.
The company, which sold party supplies, was once so successful that the profits helped to send Kate and her siblings Pippa and James to the prestigious Marlborough College in Wiltshire. The company fell into financial difficulties during the global health crisis and eventually went into administration.
According to the Times, businessman James Sinclair bought the business last year for £180,000 through a pre-pack administration, leaving Interpath Advisory with limited money to pay creditors. Carole, 69, stepped back from running the business on a daily basis in 2019 and became a brand ambassador. However, she was called upon to help operate the company as it searched for a rescue deal in the spring of 2023.
