Get ready to open your ears to some of the best music Canada has to offer as Canadian Music Week announces its 2023 lineup.
The 41st edition of the annual music festival takes place from June 5-10, 2023, with more than 250 acts performing in 20-plus venues in downtown Toronto.
The Canadian Music Week Opening Party will take place June 7 at the El Mocambo, presented by iHeart Canada in partnership with Wax Records, featuring performances by Shawn Desman, Virginia To Vegas, Alyssa Reid and Noelle.

Canadian Music Week is also celebrating the 50th Anniversary of hip hop with key showcases and events during each day of the festival, including rap legends The Lox with special guest Kardinal Offishall on June 9 at Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
Highlights from CMW 2023 Music Festival include: Dom Vallie and Roderick Porter with special guest Lyan Paris at Axis on June 6; Fuego at Axis on June 7; the 22nd Jim Beam INDIES with a full-length concert set by Charlotte Cardin on June 8 at History; Badflower at Axis on June 8; Billy Raffoul at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on June 9; and The Killjoys and Pkew Pkew Pkew at Lee’s Palace on June 10.

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International Douglas Booth, Alison Pill and Iris Apatow have joined an adaptation of the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe classic “The Sorrows of Young Werther.” The film, simply titled “Young Werther,” is produced by Toronto-based film and TV outfit Wildling Pictures, which describes the project as a modern retelling of the book. Booth (“That Dirty Black Bag”) and Pill (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) will take lead roles, with Apatow (“The Bubble”) also set to star along Patrick J. Adams (“Suits”). Production will begin this month in Toronto. Drawing from Goethe’s passionate personal accounts, which were first published in letter form in 1774, “Young Werther” is the story of a charmingly irresponsible and enthusiastic young man named Werther (Booth) who finds himself at the mercy of Charlotte (Pill), whose allure and commitment to her impressive fiancé Albert turns Werther’s life upside down.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Long-running Canadian pop-punk act Sum 41 have announced that they are splitting up after 27 years together, with their forthcoming album, their ninth studio effort, to be their last. “‘Being in Sum 41 since 1996 brought us some of the best moments of our lives,” the band wrote in a social-media message on Monday. “We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear this from us first. “Sum 41 will be disbanding,” it continues. “We will still be finishing all of our current tour dates this year, and we’re looking forward to releasing our final album ‘Heaven :x: Hell,’ along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. K-pop girl group TRI.BE have announced that their first-ever US tour will kick off next month.Today (May 5), the TR Entertainment group shared that they would be embarking on their 2023 ‘Vida Loca’ US tour from June to July. TRI.BE are set to perform in a total of 17 cities across the US, starting with Orlando, Florida on June 6.The girl group will the perform shows throughout the East Coast and mid-Western states in June, including in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Texas.
