King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort have completed their first public engagement together since Queen Elizabeth II's death. Charles, 73, and Camilla, 74, headed to Dunfermline in Fife on 3 October to attend an official council meeting at the City Chambers, to formally mark the former town's new status as the eighth city of Scotland. The Queen Consort wore a dark green coat with a white blouse, paired with black leather boots and matching gloves.
However, it was the 74 year old's interesting broach which caught the attention of Royal fans, with fine jewellery experts estimating the stunning piece is worth at least £100,000. Camilla's brooch features a huge 35 carat cabochon sapphire centre stone which is surrounded by four 10 carat cabochon sapphires. The stones are set in a square arrangement on yellow gold, and experts at Steven Stone estimate it could be worth a whopping £100,000.
Jeweller Maxwell Stone commented: "Camilla's brooch is certainly an interesting piece. Not only does it feature a huge 35 carat cabochon sapphire centre stone, but the centre stone is surrounded by four 10 carat cabochon sapphires set in a square arrangement. "A cabochon cut on a sapphire shows the very distinctive raw beauty of the particular crystal. The look is incredibly unique and not like any other type of appearance in a gemstone." Camilla may also be paying tribute to Scotland and Queen Elizabeth II with her broach choice, the expert revealed.
