Sinéad O’Connor‘s music rose by 2,885 per cent following her death.The musician and activist died at her home in London last month (July 26) at the age of 56.Many figures from the music industry have since paid tribute, including Garbage, Billy Corgan, Michael Stipe, Fall Out Boy, Ice-T and Tori Amos.According to Billboard, streams of her music went up by 7.9million in the US during the week of July 21-27.O’Connor’s music was streamed 243,000 times from July 24-25, before that number rose to 7.3million from July 26-27 in the wake of her death.Her cover of Prince‘s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ alone amassed 3.2million streams in the week news of her death broke. The single was also downloaded 10,000 times.Streaming figures for her music in the UK are yet to be released.The latest figures come after a 2021 interview with People resurfaced earlier this week in which O’Connor explained that she’d thought about the importance of protecting her finances and art, and had instructed her children on what to do when she died.“See, when the artists are dead, they’re much more valuable than when they’re alive,” the singer said at the time.

Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood have announced a new London art exhibition.The show, which is titled ‘The Crow Flies Part One’, is due to run at the Tin Man Art gallery at Cromwell Place in South Kensington between September 6-10.It’ll feature a series of new paintings that long-term friends and collaborators Yorke and Donwood created together over the past two years.Per a description, the works began as cover artwork for ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’, the 2022 debut album from Yorke’s side-project The Smile, whose line-up is completed by Radiohead‘s Jonny Greenwood and Sons Of Kemet‘s Tom Skinner.“The wider series will be presented alongside a Flemish woven tapestry commissioned by the artists in London to celebrate the album’s one-year anniversary,” the official listing reads.“This exhibition marks a significant moment in a 30-year artistic partnership for Yorke and Donwood, who worked on it together in Oxford and Brighton between 2021 and 2023. Pre-sale tickets for Taylor Swift’s long-awaited return to the UK are continuing to go on sale this week and it’s leaving fans in a frenzy.

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music Over the past weekend, the Weeknd broke London Stadium’s record for highest attendance with his two-night stand at the venue on Friday and Saturday, which drew 160,000 people to his “After Hours Til Dawn Tour.” The tour also holds the record for highest single-night attendance for any show at the stadium with 80,000 fans. According to promoter Live Nation, the tour has already sold more than 2 million tickets for its European and forthcoming South America and Mexico dates — and 200,000 for both England and France. The sold-out 2022 North American leg of the stadium tour grossed more than $148 million dollars. The global tour has now grossed over $350 million dollars to date.
