Brie Larson Joins Cast of 'Fast & Furious 10'

While we’ve seen director switch-ups in the “Star Wars” and Marvel franchises in the past, it’s less common for the “Fast & Furious” franchise. Yet, after handling five installments, director Justin Lin made the shocking announcement of his departure from “Fast X” as production only recently started and the studio is now looking for someone to take the driver’s seat.

Fast X, the forthcoming 10th instalment in the long-running Fast & Furious franchise, shortly after production had started on film.In an announcement made via a statement on social media, Lin wrote: “With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of Fast X, while remaining with the project as a producer.”He continued: “Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases. On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history.“I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew, and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the Fast family.”#FASTX pic.twitter.com/T0w9LuYS0F— The Fast Saga (@TheFastSaga) April 26, 2022Fast X started production on April 20, and the film had already began shooting, though Lin’s departure from the project is said to be amicable (per Deadline), with the move attributed to creative differences.

Director Justin Lin made huge waves last night when it was announced he was officially exiting “Fast X“ days after production had already started with new additions to the franchise including actors such as Jason Momoa (“Aquaman“), Oscar-winner Brie Larson (“Captain Marvel“), and “The Suicide Squad” breakout Daniela Melchior.

“Whatever we do, whenever we’re talking about the next chapter, I never feel like I have any restrictions, so I’m excited for what we build, and as we’re coming to this kind of final chapter of this saga,” Filmmaker Justin Lin said enthusiastically this time last year as his “Fast 9” film was about to enter theaters. And well, cut to a year later and things have changed.

Fast & Furious film is made to “honour” Paul Walker.Paul Walker played Brian O’Conner opposite Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto in 2001’s The Fast And The Furious and appeared in almost every one of its subsequent instalments until his death in 2013.Taking to social media as Fast 10 began filming, Diesel explained that “there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t want to turn back time, talk Pablo (Paul Walker) out of heading back to LA that thanksgiving weekend.
