A brave Ayrshire tot could be facing up to seven trips to New York to receive specialist £250k cancer treatment.
More than a quarter-of-a-million has been raised for three-year-old Ava Bolton from Mauchline to be sent to the States for a trial drug that could be a lifeline in her battle against stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma - a rare but very aggressive childhood cancer.
An incredible fundraising effort has seen communities across Ayrshire help raise the £250,000 total in less than six months.
The target was smashed on Monday, October 1 with the family announcing that they were blown away by the generosity shown their little warrior.
Now they have revealed exactly where the funds will go and have stressed that the multiple trips to the US could rise further than the £264,488 and counting already raised.
Her determined family have detailed a three year treatment plan that Ava will receive in the Big Apple, which will include an estimated 10 rounds of a vaccine - that it is hoped will stop the aggressive cancer from ever returning.
Ava is still going through gruelling treatment for cancer and has just completed an intensive round of chemotherapy. She will then have radiotherapy followed by immunotherapy with her treatment estimated to finish next May/ June.
Final tests will be taken to confirm that Ava is in complete remission - a state where all signs and symptoms of cancer have disappeared - before she get's the all clear to jet off to the US.
The brave toddler will then only have a short window (estimate of 45 days) to get to the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Centre in New York to receive her first vaccination.
But that first jab will be one of 10 vaccines which will require the family to travel and live in New York around
