Boygenius, Blur, Pusha T, Susanne Sundfør join stacked Øya 2023 line-up

Øya Festival has announced another wave of acts for its 2023, with Lorde confirmed to appear as the Wednesday co-headliner.Sløtface, Roisin Murphy, Okay Kaya, Yo La Tengo, Viagra Boys, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Moderat and Special Interest have also joined the line-up of the Norwegian festival, which is set to return to Oslo’s Tøyenparken for its 23rd edition from August 8-12.Already confirmed to headline will be Wizkid, Blur, Swedish singer-songwriter Håkan Hellström and Sigrid. They will be performing alongside previously announced acts such as   Devo, FKA Twigs,  Caroline Polachek, Shygirl, Amyl and The Sniffers, Obongjayar, TV GIRL, Pusha T, Susanne Sundfør.Also appearing at the festival will be Ayra Starr, Dry Cleaning, Uncle Waffles, Liv.e, Boldy James & The Alchemist, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Oxlade, Billy Strings, Snail Mail, Domi & JD Beck, Balming Tiger, Lars Vaular, Dina Ögon, Fangst, Tigerstate, Bigbang, Malin Pettersen, and Valkyrien Allstars.The festival will again feature a 50/50 split between male and female artists while also supporting an “environmentally friendly and sustainable ethos that’s applied to every element of its organisation”.

More artists have been added to the already star-studded line-up for Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2023. The broadcaster’s flagship live music festival will take place in Dundee, Scotland, from May 26 to 28, with more than 80,000 music fans expected to attend the three-day event.

The Murder Capital, Fatouma Diawara, Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, as well as Charlotte Adigér, Bolis Pupul, Deerhoof, Samia and many more.They join the previously announced King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Future Islands,  Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Wilco, Angel Olsen, Ezra Furman, Arooj Aftab, Greentea Peng and Overmono.The festival is set to return to Larmer Tree Gardens in Dorset from August 31 to September 4. Thirty Seconds To Mars, Self Esteem and other acts have been added to BBC Radio One‘s Big Weekend 2023 line-up.Jonas Brothers, Headie One, Tom Grennan, Jess Glynne, Rudimental, Pale Waves, Mimi Webb, ArrDee, Romy, Joel Corry, FLO, Piri, and The Snuts are also the latest additions to the three-day festival, which takes place over Dundee’s Camperdown Park between May 26 and May 28.On Saturday, 27 May, Jonas Brothers and The 1975 will headline the main stage, with Jonas Brothers opening and The 1975 closing. Hailing from writer and executive producer Willmott (“BlacKkKlansman,” “Da 5 Bloods”), the drama is titled “Excellence: 8 Fights” and is based on Jonathan Eig’s definitive biography “Ali: A Life.” “Bridgerton” breakout Page and Freeman are both on board as executive producers. According to the show’s official description, “Excellence: 8 Fights” will “chronicle eight distinct and defining moments in the iconic life of Muhammad Ali. Each episode will be framed by one fight from Ali’s life, but the essence of the episode, what it’s really about, is the internal fight – the drama outside the ring – where we will explore the struggle going on in the heart and mind of one of the most consequential and controversial figures of the 20th century.”

FIFA came under fire earlier this week for its appointment of supermodel Adriana Lima as its global fan ambassador. The soccer world’s governing body said Lima’s role will be to develop, promote and participate in several initiatives around the world to help grow soccer. "When you get to meet Adriana, you feel right away her warmth, kindness, and how approachable and passionate she is about our game," FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in a news release.
