Scots workers have been left stunned after finding a collection of voodoo dolls in an Edinburgh waterway. Leith Conservation trust had been cleaning the river when they made the spooky discovery.
Trapped inside a large black chest, the four dolls were found wrapped in white sheets with what appears to be needles protruding from the fabric. Alongside the dolls, a quantity of ash or silt from the river can also be seen.
It comes as the volunteer team managed to collect an impressive haul which included a bike, two chairs, a mattress and a cupboard. The team also managed to clear two large sacks worth of plastic from the waterway.
Water of Leith Conservation Trust said in a social media post: "Impressive haul of rubbish from the river, walkway & surrounding streets in Leith. We collected sacks of plastic, bike, 2 chairs, mattress & cupboard. We even found Voodoo Dolls."
Users online were quick to point out that the symbol on top of the chest was the sigil of Belial. Belial is a Hebrew term which appears in the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament which came to personify the devil.
One person said: "This is getting weird, and I like it."
Another warned: "Put those dolls back right now."
Another said: "How does one recycle voodoo dolls? Is there a special ritual to unbind them?"
