Manchester is forecast to be England’s fastest-growing city between 2022 and 2025 with annual 3.2% GVA growth making it the perfect time to expand your business by taking on an apprentice.
This September, the University of Salford will be working alongside local construction firms to enhance their employees' knowledge and add new members to the workforce through an apprenticeship scheme.
The construction site management course is a degree apprenticeship which is designed to give students hands-on experience while learning the strategic management techniques used by professionals.
But the perks don't stop there. Those who complete the three-year apprenticeship will work to achieve the BSc (Hons) Construction Project Management Degree which is accredited by bothRoyal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), making apprentices educated to the highest industry standards.
Following successful completion of the Degree element, apprentices progress to the Apprenticeship End Point Assessment (EPA) which, in this case, is the professional review with the Chartered Institute of Building to become a Chartered Member MCIOB.
Scott Bell is the early talent manager at Laing O'Rourke, an international engineering and construction company. He explained how employing an apprentice through the University of Salford has improved the organisation.
"Apprentices are a key part of our talent pipeline and as they develop, they bring enthusiasm, new ideas, and they also energise those who help them on their journey."
But it's not just the individual and business that are boosted, apprenticeships have a wider impact: "Construction apprenticeships are essential to the industry and the UK economy,"
